Le Champ de Mars Paris
While trying to plan our European honeymoon, I asked my husband to do some research into the places we were going and let me know what he wanted to do while there. He came back to me with a few things he did not want to miss while we were in Paris. One of these places was the Le Champ de Mars restaurant in Paris. Le Champ de Mars is right by the Eiffel Tower. We decided to go there for dinner and sat in their adorable outdoor seating area. We loved the people watching and the weather was beautiful in May. Plus, the natural light made so some great pictures of each other.
I want to start by saying Le Champ de Mars is not a budget dining location. We decided to splurge a little on a few meals during our three week honeymoon. We spent about $130 for this dinner. This restaurant is by far not the most expensive place to eat in Paris, but it's more then we usually spend on one dinner...maybe dinners for a whole week though. Haha!
We started out by getting drinks. We got bottled water and we both got an alcoholic drink. Almost everywhere we went on our trip you have to pay for water. Honestly, some people get all bent out of shape over this but I prefer good filtered water, so it didn't bother me. I got a "Royal Mojito" and Jon got a French beer. They were both delicious!
Since we were in Paris, we decided to be adventurous and try a French appetizer...escargot. Neither of us had ever tried escargot before, but we decided that if we were ever going to try it, this was the place. When the waiter brought the escargot, we had to ask him how to eat it. They give you this tool to hold the shell while you pull it out with the little fork. This is because the shell can be quite hot from cooking. They also give you this very fresh bread to eat it on. And the verdict was....we loved it! The pesto they put on the cooked escargot was amazing and the bread they served with it might have been the softest bread I've ever had.
After how good the escargot was, we were very excited to try our dinner! I got chicken and Jon got a steak so we could both try two different things. There were a lot of different things on the menu so it was very hard to choose. We decided to get meals that were a bit more filling since we had walked all over the city that day and were starving. We were not disappointed with our choices! Everything was tender and juicy and we ate every bite.
After an amazing dinner, we of course had to get a French dessert! We decided to get crêpe's for dessert. We loved these! They we not super sweet which is exactly how we like it!
Needless to say, if we do ever go back to Paris, we will eat at Le Champ de Mars again. Bon appétit!
